When we set out to write this song, our aim was to create something that felt like a traditional “rock-and-roll” Christmas song that sounded like it was related to Christmas classics through the years, but we also wanted this song to be wrapped up with modern ideas. After the year we’ve all had we thought there was no better sentiment than to write a song that exclaimed: This Christmas will be the greatest of all time! This song was created with the help of our online community, a collection of viewers who engage with our weekly songwriting livestream series on Twitch.
Double Experience are an Ottawa-based group with a geeky worldview that is all their own. Band members Ian Nichols (vocals) and Brock Tinsley (guitars) have bonded with a passionate international fanbase as a result of hundreds of concerts across 16 countries. Since 2018, Double Experience have performed alongside Canadian bands such as Big Sugar, Danko Jones and JJ Wilde.
By day, the mild-mannered band members deliver music-oriented workshops and at schools, conventions and conferences (including IndieWeek, MAGFest and Ottawa ComicCon). Nichols and Tinsley teach up-and-coming creatives how to take control of their own destiny in a similar way as the duo’s musical alter-ego.
After performing at the MusicOntario Canada House in Hamburg Germany, Double Experience signed with Drakkar Records. In 2020, Double Experience released their album “Alignments”, which earned them nominations for “Band of the Year” and “Album of the Year” at the Capitol Music Awards. Not bad, for an album consisting entirely of songs that correspond to one of nine morality traits found within the tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons. Many of the band’s singles receive regular play on radio stations such as Live 88.5 FM and Rebel 101.7 FM.
Presently, Double Experience can be found writing songs with chat members on their ever-growing Twitch channel. With the help of their global community, the band has raised money for Ottawa-area initiatives such as Ingenium Canada, BARK Ottawa, and more.
